Johnny's Restaurant

Chicago

Located in the all glass ground floor of a office tower in the Streeterville area, this 200 seat fine dining restaurant space presented challenges. The three glass twenty foot high walls allowed car and street lights to invade the space, yet the owner wanted the open view. Also, the rich materials of granite, bronze and glass formed the adjacent lobby. To conceal the kitchen, it was located to the only blank wall and covered with a balcony dining room. Below the classical stair an intimate bar was located overlooking a dramatic dining room. A series of 24 private leather booths with high backs and personal lighting controls created a respite from the harsh street lights. The classic American menu contained fresh fish, steak and fine wine.
